چکیده

Value functions of impulse control problems are known to satisfy Quasi-Variational Inequalities (QVI) (Bensoussan and Lions (1982)). This paper proves the smooth-fit C1 property of the value function for multi-dimensional controlled diffusions, using a viscosity solution approach. We show by examples how to exploit this regularity property to derive explicitly optimal policy and value function. ∗Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research, University of California at Berkeley, CA 94720-1777. Impulse Control of Multidimensional Jump Diffusions in Finite Time Horizon

This paper analyzes a class of impulse control problems for multidimensional jump diffusions in the finite time horizon. Following the basic mathematical setup from Stroock and Varadhan [Multidimensional Diffusion Processes, Springer-Verlag, Heidelberg, 2006], this paper first establishes rigorously an appropriate form of the dynamic programming principle. It then shows that the value function ...

Principle of Smooth Fit and Diffusions with Angles

is characterized by the fact that V ′(b) exists and is equal to G′(b) . Typically, no other point b̃ separating the candidate sets C̃ and D̃ will satisfy this identity, and most often V ′′(b) will either fail to exist or will not be equal to G′′(b) . These unique features of the smooth fit principle make it a powerful tool in solving specific problems of optimal stopping. The same is true in highe...

Impulse Control of Multidimensional Jump Diffusions

This paper studies regularity properties of the value function for an infinite-horizon discounted cost impulse control problem, where the underlying controlled process is a multidimensional jump diffusion with possibly ‘infinite-activity’ jumps. Surprisingly, despite these jumps, we obtain the same degree of regularity as for the diffusion case, at least when the jump satisfies certain integrab...

On the smooth-fit property for one-dimensional optimal switching problem

This paper studies the problem of optimal switching for one-dimensional diffusion, which may be regarded as sequential optimal stopping problem with changes of regimes. The resulting dynamic programming principle leads to a system of variational inequalities, and the state space is divided into continuation regions and switching regions. By means of viscosity solutions approach, we prove the sm...

A Novel High-Performance Field-Weakening Control for Axial Flux-Switching Permanent-Magnet Motor

By combining the field-weakening control principle of a new axial flux-switching permanent-magnet motor (AFFSSPM) with the space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) and maximum torque per voltage (MTPV) control principle, a novel field-weakening control strategy for AFFSSPM is proposed in this paper. In the first stage of the field-weakening, the difference between the reference voltage updat...
